SOLUTION / GATES, GARAGES & BARRIERS

Specify a powered entrance. Not just a motor.

The moving structure, use, controls and protection form a system. Prepare a brief describing the actual entrance, intended movements and checks needed before comparing drives.

Outdoor entrance with a generic sliding gate.
Generated conceptual illustration. Generic equipment; not a client installation, installation drawing or product reference.

01

Start with the entrance and its users.

A swing gate, sliding gate, garage door and barrier have different movements and uses. Survey the existing entrance first: dimensions, material, apparent condition, movement space and installed equipment. A photo helps prepare a visit; it replaces neither mechanical assessment nor required measurements.

Describe the site’s day: residents, staff, visitors, deliveries, pedestrians and peak periods. A daily total does not describe arrivals concentrated into a few minutes. Separate the opening request, permission to pass and traffic organisation; identify who decides during an incident or outage.

02

Assess five elements as one system.

This functional chain prepares supplier and installer questions. It prescribes no wiring, force, speed or protective sequence.

  1. 01 · Structure and mechanics

Have supports, guidance and existing movement assessed. Describe known defects and nearby obstacles; a drive must not mask a mechanical problem.

  2. 02 · Drive and control

Match references, entrance characteristics and intended use. Identify the controller, required accessories and operating data to check in the exact manual.

  3. 03 · Protective functions

Have site-appropriate measures and tests defined. One protective component does not establish system safety; its compatibility and behaviour need assessment.

  4. 04 · Permission and interface

Identify remote, credential, button or intercom. Describe the requested action and confirm the interface; a shared radio frequency does not establish product compatibility.

  5. 05 · Feedback and operation

Specify states actually available: request sent, movement or confirmed position. Define user instructions, contact and handover documents, including for power loss.

Compare the context before the headline rating.

Example: receiving a delivery at a shared entrance.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

A fictional acceptance brief. Movement and protective tests must be defined and conducted by the responsible professional, not improvised from this story.

  1. Identify the visitor and decide

Reception receives a call. The brief distinguishes accepting the visit, sending an opening request and leaving the gate controller to process it. A refusal must remain a refusal, not become a command through an interface shortcut.

  2. Observe without inventing confirmation

Specify messages for each available feedback signal. Without usable position feedback, show ‘position unconfirmed’, not ‘open’. If a fault is reported, the operator must see it and the agreed response, not a default success.

  3. Hand over an understandable entrance

Record references, interfaces, tested states and remaining restrictions. Arrange a supervised demonstration of everyday controls, user instructions and the service contact. Intercom-function validation remains separate from mechanical and safety acceptance.

No indicator, accepted call or remote picture certifies entrance safety. This page proposes no person-contact test, protective bypass or force adjustment.

05

Six questions before requesting references.

  1. Which entrance and condition?

Photos, dimensions, movement, known defects and existing references. Identify missing measurements instead of visually guessing mass.

  2. Who passes and when?

Residents, staff, public, deliveries, pedestrians and peaks. Attach circulation plans and known exceptional uses.

  3. Which site constraints?

Movement space, supports, environment, technical access and electrical supply. Identify prerequisite works and their owner.

  4. Which commands and feedback?

Describe each user and action, any intercom interface and displayed states. Explicitly record unavailable information.

  5. Who assesses and accepts the system?

Name the owner of assessment, appropriate tests and documents. Separate supply, installation, connections and validation in the enquiry.

  6. What follow-up after handover?

Request instructions, authorised access and agreed follow-up terms. Equipment supply does not imply maintenance or guaranteed attendance.

06

Equipment, compliance and safety remain distinct.

Inovexia is the distributor for equipment enquiries; installation services and responsibilities must be identified separately. The cited HSE source is UK technical guidance, not evidence of Moroccan compliance. Have applicable site requirements determined and obtain documents for the actually installed system. This page does not replace that process.

07

Clarify the offer without oversimplifying risk.

Is maximum weight enough to choose a drive?

No. Compare geometry, mechanical condition, environment and usage with manufacturer conditions. One figure is not a selection assessment.

Do photocells automatically make the gate safe?

No. Protection is assessed for the whole system and environment. Clarify each device’s role and limits, then the tests required by the competent responsible person.

Can I reuse a remote on the same frequency?

Frequency alone is insufficient. Verify exact model, generation, protocol and receiver. Similar enclosures are not compatibility evidence.

Does opening from an app prove position?

No. Separate the sent request from feedback actually received. Without documented confirmation, the interface must retain uncertainty, not invent a position.

Are backup and release facilities always included?

Have exact functions, accessories and usage conditions specified in the offer. Handling instructions come from the manufacturer and professional handover; this page does not improvise them.
